Client in spotlight

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) is a statutory body established under the Khadi and Village Industries Commission Act, 1956, responsible for promoting and developing Khadi and village industries across rural India. Serving millions of rural artisans and producers, KVIC plays a key role in strengthening the rural economy. Kellton was engaged to digitally transform KVIC’s commerce operations by converting its traditional retail model into a modern, scalable e-commerce platform.

Unlocking Digital success

Kellton partnered with KVIC to conceptualize a complete digital transformation of its traditional brick-and-mortar retail model — envisioning an e-commerce portal that would leverage India's demographic advantage to expand KVIC's reach for both product sales and raw material procurement. The goal was to build a digital bridge connecting rural businesses, artisans, and village industry producers with customers and suppliers across the country — making KVIC's offerings accessible to a far wider audience than physical stores alone could serve.
Our approach
Kellton led the end-to-end digital transformation of KVIC’s commerce operations by converting its brick-and-mortar model into a scalable e-commerce platform. A unified system was built for both product sales and raw material procurement, covering the full commerce lifecycle. The platform expanded KVIC’s reach by connecting rural artisans and producers with national markets while ensuring simplicity, accessibility, and scale for its diverse user base.
Outcomes
The solution included a fully functional e-commerce portal transforming KVIC’s physical stores into an online platform, along with sales and raw material procurement portals to expand reach across India. Designed to leverage India’s demographic advantage, it enables nationwide access while empowering rural artisans and businesses through digital connectivity.
